Judy Dolezal, passed away peacefully on July 31st in Zumbrota, Minnesota at the age of 96. Michelle and Melinda Dolezal were present at their grandmother’s passing. Judy was born to Simon and Dagny (Thorson) Simonson in Campbell, Minnesota on November 19, 1923. Judy’s mother had passed soon after childbirth, of Judy, and her father remarried thereafter and Judy had five half siblings, Wallace, Margerie, Lional, Carol, and Genevieve. She graduated from Morris High School in 1942, and graduated Nursing School in 1948. She married Harry Felix Dolezal, October 16, 1944.

Myrtle Marie “Myrt” Hanzel, age 91, of New Prague, died peacefully in the presence of her family on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Mala Strana Health and Rehabilitation Center. Myrt was born on August 8, 1928 in Derrynane Township, St. Thomas, MN to Thomas and Theresa (Reger) Retka. She attended Country School District 107 one-room schoolhouse and graduated from New Prague High School. After graduating, she traveled to St. Paul for the first time and lived with her aunt, Rose Retka, who helped her find employment and paid her tuition to Ancker Hospital in St.
Lambert L. Hoffman, age 91 of Inver Grove Heights, formerly of St. Paul, passed away peacefully at his home on July 30th. Bert was born in St. Benedict, MN on May 3, 1929, the son of Leonard and Mary (Gerold) Hoffman. He served in the Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne, 187th Regional Combat Team. He was a lifetime member of the VFW (#1610/#6690).
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, hunting, fishing, music, and his grandchildren. He made the best BBQ chicken!
Dennis A. Gerold, age 93, died peacefully on Thursday, July 30 at Mala Strana Health and Rehabilitation Center. Dennis was born on September 19, 1926 in Jordan, Minnesota to Egon and Agatha (VonBank) Gerold. He graduated from Jordan High School and served in the US Army in Korea. He married Betty Bisek on October 14, 1950 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague and joined his father in partnership on the family dairy farm in rural Jordan. The Gerold farm has been in the family since 1864, and the seventh generation is currently living on the land.
Max R. Simon, age 91, of Frederic, WI, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020. He was born August 9, 1928 in Veseli, MN and lived in South St. Paul and Inver Grove Heights, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna; 4 brothers; 6 sisters; wife, Betty; and daughter, Diane.
He is survived by his grandson, Patrick Jehlicka; granddaughter, Miranda Jehlicka; many nieces and nephews.
Max was a life-time member of the Loyal Order of Moose South St. Paul #1088; VFW Post 295 South St. Paul; and a member of the American Legion Post 249 Frederic, WI.

Fritz was born on December 3, 1942 at the family home in Webster Township, Rice County to Frank W. and Mary C. (Schoenbauer) Tupy. Fritz graduated from New Prague High School and entered the US Army National Guard. He married the love of his life, Karen A. Sticha at St.

Morken, Odin “Red”, passed away on July 22, 2020 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center in New Prague, MN at the age of 83. Red was born March 7th 1937 in Ulen, MN. His parents Odd and Katherine Morken raised their family on the farm in Ulen before moving to Frazee, MN in the early 1950’s. He attended Frazee High School and graduated in 1955. While in high school Red joined the Army Reserves and served 8 years in addition to serving in the Army where he trained to be an electrician from 1956-1958.

Delmont “Bud” Wangerin, of Lydia, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2020 at the age of 92. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Ron Jabs, a lifelong resident of Jordan, passed away July 21, 2020 at the age of 68. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (100 Sixth Street West) in Jordan. Face masks are required, and guests must practice safe social distancing.
