Roman A. Malecha passed away on September 18, 2020, at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by Parents, Albert G and Ludmilla (Havel) Malecha; first wife, Darlene Malecha; brothers and sisters, Lillian Tupy, Helen Novak, Albert, Stanley, Joe, Robert and George Malecha.  
Roman was a man of deep faith who dedicated his life to his family, church, friends and community. Roman attended Bethlehem Academy and Seminary school intending to be a priest, until he met Darlene Horejsi at a wedding dance and decided to take a new path in life. 

George N. Nytes, age 64, of Shakopee, died on Thursday September 17, 2020 in his home with his dear and caring wife at his side after a seven-year long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. George was born on June 11, 1956 in New Prague, to Howard and Margaret (Holub) Nytes. He attended Union Hill country school and New Prague Public School. George married Ying Li in Shakopee on September 14, 2017 and she supported him through his journey through Parkinson’s. George loved traveling and anything to do with horses, horseback riding in particular.

Virginia A. Lucier Hoyt, age 86, of New Prague, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.  Virginia was born on April 2, 1934 in Fargo, North Dakota to Charles E. and Cora A.

Roger Lee Carlson, age 67, of Webster, died peacefully surrounded by his family after a short but heroic battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. Roger was born on January 10, 1953 in Minneapolis, to Allan and Shirley (Turner) Carlson. He attended and graduated from Chaska High School and went on to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth and Hennepin Vo-tech.

Lillian A. Havlicek, 91, of New Prague, died peacefully, on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Mala Strana.
Lillian was born on January 7, 1929 to John and Bessie (Trcka) Flicek. She grew up on a Montgomery rural farm located by Cody Lake in Wheatland Township.  Lillian married Joseph J. Havlicek on November 4, 1947 in Lonsdale. Lillian and Joe lived on a farm by Lonsdale where they raised their daughter Linda.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 27 for Carol Freid, who passed away February 28, 2020. A visitation will be held at the Montgomery American Legion from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. A service will be held at 3 p.m. Lunch will follow.

Bonita J. Nelson, age 70. Died unexpectedly on September 5, 2020
Bonnie was born November 29, 1949 in Minneapolis, MN, to Lyle and Lila (Waller) Melcher. She was raised in Minneapolis and graduated from West High School in 1967. Shortly after graduation Bonnie married the love of her life Leon Nelson. They lived in Minneapolis for 8 years, moved to Lonsdale in 1977, where they raised their two children, and finally moving to New Prague in 2011. Bonnie loved going to the casino and had a love for Elvis Presley. Her greatest love of all was time with her family.

Viskocil, Bettylou, Age 78, of Bloomington, passed away September 4, 2020. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by sons, Todd and Jay; sister, Marilyn Green. Mass of Christian Burial Friday September 11th 11am at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 9900 Lyndale Ave S, Bloomington. Visitation at the church beginning at 9:30 am.

Donald “Donny” Frank Moravec, 78, of New Prague, formally of Montgomery, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery with visitation held two hours prior.

Diane M. Schmidt, age 67 of New Prague, died on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Mayo Health Systems in New Prague after a battle with cancer.  Funeral service will be on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine, MN.  Visitation will be on Monday, September 14, 2020, 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine, MN. Burial will follow the funeral service at Oakwood Cemetery, Belle Plaine, MN.  Pastor Mark Johnson will officiate the services.

Harvey James Edel, of Kilkenny, MN, 89, died peacefully on September 6, 2020, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with Mass to follow at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Father Tom Niehaus will officiate.
Burial will be held at Trebon Cemetery in Shieldsville Township, Kilkenny, MN.
  The family will be honoring his legacy as a farmer by having a drive-by around his farmstead before the burial.

Dorothy M. Barten, age 84, of New Prague, died peacefully with her husband at her side on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living.  Dorothy was born on May 1, 1936 in Green Isle, Minnesota to Fred and Lydia (Dreier) Hebeisen.  She attended parochial school in Green Isle and graduated from Arlington-Green Isle High School.  Dorothy worked for Pillsbury for a few years before marrying the love of her life, John J.

Martha A. Paur, age 78, of Kilkenny, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 30, 2020. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020. Visitation will be held 2 hours before Mass at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery from 8:30-10:30 am. Mass will follow at 10:30 with Fr. Tom Niehaus officiating. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery. There will be a luncheon at noon at the American Legion in Montgomery after the burial.

Luella Margaret Lapic, 90, died on Wednesday, August 26th, due to complications from a fall.
Lu was born on July 20, 1930 on the family farm in Montgomery as the middle child of Joseph and Anna Choudek.  After graduating from high school, she worked at the bank.  

Gerald “Jerry” Michael, age 88, died peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington, MN. Jerry was born on August 16, 1932 in  New Prague to Leo and Elizabeth (Fitzpatrick) Michael. He attended country school in Helena Township, St. Wenceslaus School and graduated from New Prague High School in 1951.  He played football in high school and was on the St. Patrick baseball team.

Ty Kenny Schoenbauer, age 21, of Wilkinsburg, PA, formerly of New Prague, died tragically by suicide on Sunday, August 23, 2020 in Pittsburgh, PA.  Ty was born on October 26, 1998 in Shakopee and lovingly adopted by Steven and Corrine “Connie” (Sticha) Schoenbauer.  He graduated from New Prague High School and attended Normandale Community College and Gustavus Adolphus College.  Ty was a naturally gifted scholar who learned easily and dabbled in many pursuits, such as learning new languages and exploring the stars and heavens in astronomy.  He had a gift for music, loved to sing and make mu
