Laurie Beek-Korbel, age 59, of New Prague, passed away peacefully, in her sleep at home on Sunday, April 7, 2024. She had been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure on June 12 of 2022, and entered hospice care on February 28 of this year. Laurie was born on February 10, 1965, in Faribault to Donald & Evelyn (Timmers) Korbel. She grew up on the family dairy farm in Kilkenny and graduated from Montgomery-Lonsdale High School in 1983. She had 2 years advanced schooling in sales marketing and management and worked for K-Mart during those years. Following her education, she worked for
Samuel "Sam" Richard Carlson, age 86, of Lonsdale passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at his home. Private family services will be held.
Sam was born on June 5, 1937, to Samuel (CJ) and Ruth (Danielson) Carlson in the chicken coop on the family farm in Chengwatana Township east of Pine City. Sam held many jobs in his lifetime, but cutting wood was always his favorite.
Robert M. Barnett, age 93, of Kilkenny, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at his home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Visitation will continue Wednesday, March 27 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Father Tom Niehaus officiating. Interment will be held in St. Michael’s Cemetery in rural Montgomery followed by a luncheon at the St. Canice Hall in Kilkenny.
Norman “Norm” Turek, age 82, of Montgomery passed away battling the awful disease of Lewy-Body Dementia on Sunday, March 24, 2024, in the arms of his wife at Elysian Senior Home in Northfield. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. with Memorial Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. all held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Shieldsville with Fr. Tom Niehaus officiating. Interment will be held in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Lewy-Body Dementia Association.
Wm. R. (Bill) Simonette, CFP, age 73, of Mankato, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at home. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 632 S. Broad St. in Mankato, with Fr. John Kunz, Celebrant. Military honors will be held immediately following services.

Sandra M. (Skluzacek) Tuma, born January 18, 1955, and formerly of Lonsdale, passed away March 16 after a hard fought battle against cancer. Preceded in death by her father Rudolph, she is survived by her mother Arlene of Lonsdale, her son Chad (Julie), daughter Amber (Chris) Gehrke and son Dustin (Leanna) and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Sharon (Ken) and Laure (Mike) and brothers Lyle (Sandi), Brian (Angie), Bruce (Lisa) and Eric (Bobbie).

Jean was born on June 25, 1947, in New Prague to William and Irene E. (Maxa) Kubik. She was a graduate of New Prague High School and received an Associate’s degree for Drug Counseling at Angelina College in Lufkin, TX. She enjoyed playing bells at her church, needlework embroidery, crocheting, puzzles and word puzzles, visiting with others, and her pets. She was a member and a leader of TOPS.

Dorothy Jean Ruth Pumper-Filipek was born October 9, 1928, in Montgomery, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Elmer and Anna (Wondra) Moll. Dorothy was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth both in Montgomery, Minnesota. She received her education in Montgomery and graduated with the Montgomery High School class of 1946.

Marion E. Hadac, age 95, of New Prague, died peacefully, with her family at her side on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Mala Strana Health and Rehabilitation Center. Marion was born on November 26, 1928, in Webster Township, to Robert and Helen (Hruska) Havlicek. She attended New Prague Schools and married George R. Hadac on October 14, 1947, in New Prague.
