The WEM girls basketball team defeated Martin County West, 61-26, Tuesday, March 23 in the Section 2A South Sub-Section Championship. This was the second straight Sub-Section title for WEM. They will play Class A No. 3 rated Sleepy Eye-St. Mary's Thursday, March 25 at 7 p.m. in Arlington for the Section 2A Championship. SESM defeated WEM, 62-58, March 5. Bucs run win streak to four straight
The WEM girls basketball team won its fourth straight game last week, defeating Maple River 71-39 Friday, Feb. 26.
This was one of two Gopher Conference wins for the Bucs. They also picked up a 66-24 win over United South Central Tuesday, Feb. 23.
The Bucs are 8-1 in the conference and 10-2 overall. The upcoming week features three of the biggest games of the season, which winds down the second week in March.
The WEM/JWP wrestling team was without a number of wrestlers Thursday, Feb. 18 due to Covid protocol.
The Grizzlies dropped a pair of duals, including a Gopher Conference matchup with Westfield.
In the opening dual, the Grizzlies were defeated by the Razorbacks, 63-12.
In the second dual, St. Clair/Mankato Loyola edged WEM/JWP, 39-27.

WEM seniors Allison Rients, Toryn Richards, Kylie Pittmann, Ellie Ready, and Autumn Taylor and junior Alex Heuss each received recognition this fall.

Baker-style bowling consists of bowlers taking turns rolling one frame at a time, one after another. Bowlers roll either three or four frames when bowling with three individuals. Teams can consist of up to five bowlers. WEM competed with the minimum of three.
