Margaret Sticha, 71

Margaret M. Sticha, age 71, of New Prague, died peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center. Margaret was born on September 4, 1947, in Shakopee to Jerome A. and Bernice A. (Wolf) Sand. She attended St. Mary’s Purification Grade School in Marystown and was a 1965 graduate of Guardian Angels High School. Prior to her marriage to William R. Sticha on October 12, 1968 at St. Mary’s Purification Church in Marystown, Margaret worked for Scott County Welfare.

Ella Jahn, 90

Ella R. Jahn, age 90, of New Prague, died peacefully on Friday, February 15, 2019, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Ella was born on November 21, 1928, in Lanesburgh Township, Le Sueur County, MN to Frank J. and Rose (Panek) Dietz. She attended country district school and graduated from New Prague High School. She married Harold C.

Emil Moran, 87

Emil R. Moran, age 87, of New Prague, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. Emil was born on July 14, 1931 in Lanesburgh Township, Le Sueur County, MN to Amab F. and Emma (Blaha) Moran, Jr. He attended New Prague High School and entered the US Navy following graduation. Emil married Sharon R. Pecholt on March 15, 1986 in Shakopee and the couple made their home in rural New Prague. Emil worked as a mechanic for many years with the City of New Prague at the New Prague Golf Club. He was a member of the VFW.

James “Chester” Retka, 85

James “Chester” Retka, 85, of Montgomery, passed away on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at his home in Montgomery. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 17, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, visitation one hour prior at the funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Lexington. Military Honors will be provided by the Montgomery area Honor Guard.

Judy E Hennen, 76

Judy E Hennen, age 76 of Burnsville passed away peacefully with her son and daughter at her side, Monday February 11, 2019 following a brief illness.

Cora (Marcum) Filius, 72

Cora (Marcum) Filius, 72, of Fridley, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019. 
She was born August 2, 1946, in Kingsport, TN, to George and Marcella (Dubey) Marcum. She attended Central Lakes Community College, where she earned an Associate of Arts degree, and made a lifetime career of serving others. She was a member of FaithPoint Lutheran Church in New Prague, where she enjoyed serving others for many years on the meals team. She also enjoyed participating in the Women’s Bible Study. 

Emily K. Ardolf, 104

Emily K. Ardolf, age 104, of New Prague, died peacefully on Wednesday February 6, 2019 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center in New Prague.  Emily was born on September 8, 1914 in Wheatland Township, Rice County to Math and Mary (Novak) Ruzicka.  After Veseli school she attended Hopkins High School before she married Joseph F. Ardolf at Veseli on September 8, 1936.  Emily was a farm housewife and homemaker and raised five children.  She was one of the oldest living residents in New Prague.

Lonna R. Nordwall, 73

Nordwall, Lonna R., age 73 of Prior Lake, passed away February 6, 2019.  Preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Shirley Beenken; brother, Lee Beenken; daughter-in-law, Joan Nordwall. Survived by her by husband, Jim; children, Michael (Robin) Nordwall and Michelle Nordwall; granddaughter, Brittney; sister, Paulette Vaughan; also by other loving family and friends.

Loretta (Stanton) Zweber, 83

Loretta (Stanton) Zweber, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 4, 2019, at her home in Prior Lake, MN.  
 Service will be at St. Michael Catholic Church 16311 Duluth Ave. SE, Prior Lake. A visitation will be on Friday, February 8, from 3-7 pm and on Saturday, February 9, from 9:30-10:45 am, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Interment at St. Michael Cemetery.    

Harry Dietz, 96

Harry Dietz, age 96, of New Prague, died peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center. Harry was born on January 30, 1923 in Lanesburgh Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota to Frank J. and Rose (Panek) Dietz. He graduated from New Prague High School. In his early years he worked at the mill in Montgomery and as a mechanic for Jimmy Rutt’s garage. He married Leota Busta on October 15, 1945. He spent his life as a farmer, who valued conservation of both the soil in his farming practices and wildlife.
