The Tri-City United (TCU) boys basketball team improved to 3-2 in the Minnesota River Conference (MRC) with a split of two games last week.
The week started with TCU losing to Belle Plaine, 88-59 Tuesday, Jan. 9. Friday, Jan. 12 the Titans defeated Sibley East, 53-41.
In the loss to the Tigers, TCU only trailed by nine at half but were outscored 49-27 in the second half.
“We played hard and battled in the first half, even though getting a stop was hard to come by. In the second half, we were disrupted by Belle Plaine’s zone. Ultimately, we needed to rebound the ball at a higher rate defensively, we needed to play better initial defense, and we needed to turn the ball over at a lower rate,“ head coach John Rumpza said.
