Ruth Helen Gaul, age 88, of Montgomery, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Central Health Care in Le Center, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 11:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, all at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Father Tom Niehaus officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery, MN.
Ruth was born on March 18, 1935, in Duluth to Walter and Helen (Carlson) Schwartz. She graduated in 1953 from Alborn High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Anton Gaul on November 24, 1956 in Grand Lake, MN. Ruth enjoyed the Minnesota Twins and the Vikings, playing bingo, going to the casino, baking and socializing.
Ruth is survived by her children, Sandy (John) Lowry of Clear Lake, IA, Karen (Dennis) Trcka of Montgomery, Ron (Sandy) Gaul of Montgomery, Bob (Barb) Gaul of Alborn, MN, Ed Gaul of Montgomery, Carol (Ron) Baer of Palm Harbor, FL, Ted (Stephi) Gaul of Lonsdale, Mary (Todd) Rieck of Mankato, Lisa (Jim) Jakes of Montgomery, and Dave (Kate) Gaul of Montgomery; sister, Jean Schultz; 31 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anton; sons, Steven Gaul, Dale Gaul and Mark Gaul; brothers, Bill, Stanley, George, Frank and Fred Schwartz; sister, Ruby Lundquist; great-granddaughter, Brielle Trcka.
