Friday night’s Waterville Indians game had a number of very special moments which will be remembered for years.
Before the game there was a tribute to long-time Waterville Indians Board of Director Tom McBroom, who passed away earlier that morning.
There was the presentation of the second annual Shane Sellner Memorial 13-60 League Player of the Year, which went to Indians shortstop Ben Boran. Rick and Luke Sellner presented the award to Boran.
And culminating the evening was a Region 5C Championship for the Indians, who defeated No. 6 seed Pine Island, 12-2, The victory gave the Indians the No. 1 seed from the Region at this weekend’s Class C State Tournament.
Waterville will face Litchfield Blue Sunday, August 17 at 11 a.m. in Hutchinson.
The win over Pine Island was a total team effort, with every player collecting at least one hit and pitcher Dalton Grose hurling a gem on the mound.
