The Morristown Gun Club,located behind the Ahlman’sGun Store and Range, has been making improvements.
Not only are they making improvements, but they are open two times a week for the public to enjoy the facility.
According to Gun Club President Troy Marquardt, the club has been open since 1966.
According to the PULL USA magazine, the club has under-gone a number of changes since its opening.
The main club house was moved to a more centralized location behind the ranges.
A grant was recently received and a fourth trap house was added.

Geraldine F. Hrdlicka, age 92 formerly of Waterville died of natural causes on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.

A Faribault man was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday, September 1, along Dodd Boulevard, southwest of Sheildsville, and a Kilkenny man has been hospitalized.
According to a news release issued by Sheriff Troy Dunn, the Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Kilkenny Fire and Rescue and North Ambulance were dispatched to a personal injury vehicle crash in the 8000 Block of Dodd Boulevard at about 1 p.m.

Neil Patrick “Pat” Baker, age 52, of Elysian was tragically killed in a boating accident at his Ottertail Lake home.

Joseph (Joe) Frank Scheffler, age 98, of rural New Prague, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2020, at Traditions of Montgomery, where he and Evelyn have resided for nearly two months.   Joe was born on April 7, 1922, on a farm in Helena Twp., Scott County, MN to George and Anna (Jacques) Scheffler.   His loving wife, Evelyn and his children, are gratefull to have been able to spend days and nights with him until he passed.

Marann Esther Dehn, age 82 passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
Born on January 30, 1938 in Waterville Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Carl and Evelyn (Leffler) Dehn. Marann enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved crafts, playing bingo, shopping, and listening to Elvis Presley. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and celebrating the birth of our Lord. Her beautiful soul will never be forgotten.

Mary Claire Rooney, age 74, of Toledo, succumbed to Covid-19 on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital. She was born on August 12, 1945 in Waseca, MN to Charles and Marie (Stangler) Grubish. Mary was a graduate of Waterville High School in Waterville, MN and Mankato State University. She was employed as a Social Worker for the Lucas County Department of Job and Family Services for 28 years, retiring in 2003.

Trista Hering, a 2020 WEM graduate, finished off her outstanding high school softball career by pitching in the Senior Salute Sunday in Waterville. Hering, an All State selection, among 17 seniors of the Gopher and Valley Conference teams who played in the seven inning game, commemorating players who did not have a chance to play in the spring of 2020.

Steven Henry Sexton, age 70, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Charlet Hasner Allen Oser, age 95 of Waseca died on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at LakeShore Inn in Waseca.
Charlet was born in a log cabin in Montana on February 5, 1925 to Frank and Elma (Cadwell) Hasner. Her parents moved to Waseca in 1927 where Frank was employed by the State of Minnesota at the University farm in Waseca.

George Dee McIntosh Sr., age 62, of Waterville, died on Monday, August 10, 2020.

Janette Helen Byrne, age 93 of Waterville passed away surrounded by family on August 7, 2020 at the Lakeshore Inn in Waseca.

Alice Annie Seibel, age 86 of Morristown, died at her home on Tuesday, August 4, 2020.

The Waterville Indians and Morristown Morries amateur baseball teams will begin their quests to make a repeat appearance in the Class C State Tournament this weekend. After finishing up an abbreviated 13-60 League schedule, the two teams will open Region 6C Playoff action Sunday, August 2. Waterville, the No. 3 seed from the 13-60 League, will host Arlington, the No. 7 seed from the River Valley League. Game time in Waterville will be 2 p.m. Morristown, the No. 7 seed, will play at No. 2 seed Minnesota Lake at 6 p.m. Sunday. Minn. Lake edged the Morries, 1-0, last weekend.

No one was injured in an early morning fire in Montgomery that damaged two buildings on Wednesday, July 29.
The Montgomery Fire Department was called to a fire at 104 First Street at 3:45 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they observed flames engulfing the second floor of a vacant building.
City Administrator Brian Heck said the fire was under control in about 5½ hours. Montgomery firefighters continue to remain on the scene.
