Charles Joseph Haecherl - August 2, 1935 - August 8, 2026
Charles Joseph Haecherl died peacefully at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with dementia on Saturday, August 8, 2026. He was born on August 2, 1935, to Andrew and Helen (Sinnott) Haecherl and raised on their family farm in Lisbon, North Dakota. He attended a small school 7 miles from home and every school day he would boost his two younger sisters and himself on his horse and ride to school. He graduated from Lisbon high school and then attended Fargo business college.
Never being out of North Dakota, he decided to see the world by joining the Army in 1958. After serving his country in Korea, he moved to Minnesota.
He loved to dance and so did his “love at first sight.” Charlie and Kay were married on May 27, 1961. He worked as a production manager for women's hair care products for LaMaur Corporation in Fridley for over 20 years. During those 20 years, he raised his family of 5 children and bought a farm in Veseli, MN. With the help of his family they farmed the land, milked cows, and had a farrow to finish hog operation.
In 1981 he added another career in addition to farming. He worked at Sheldahl in Northfield for another 20 years before retiring.
Family and kids were always the highlight of his life. He enjoyed attending the grandkids and great-grandkids sporting events, gymnastics, basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, and baseball. He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and an officer in the Custom Club and never turned down a night to play euchre.
His hobby and passion was restoring Custom tractors, starting with his dad's 1950 Custom. After 14 tractors, he enjoyed showing them off at Pioneer Power and tractor shows across the country.
Charlie was preceded in death by, his parents; sisters, Phyllis Duncan, Patricia Hand; brother, Vernon (Bud) Haecherl. Charlie is survived by Kay, loving wife of 65 years; his children, Doug (Julie Klinkner) Haecherl, Theresa (Jeff) Jensen, Kenneth Haecherl (Robyn Monroe), Debra Haecherl, and Yvonne (Tony) Christensen. He is also survived by many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sisters Marilyn Haecherl (MT) and Charlotte Walker (FL).
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with Mass at 11 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli, Thursday, August 20, 2026. Burial to follow Mass. Interment St. John's cemetery Veseli, Minnesota.
