13th State Tournament appearance - 4th straight
The 4th straight Class C State Tournament for the Waterville Indians amateur baseball team was much different than the last few times they have advanced.
This year the Indians, rated No. 5 in Class C, will be heading to State as the No. 1 seed out of Region 5C, after defeating Pine Island, 12-2, in seven innings Friday, August 8 in Waterville.

The Indians will play Litchfield Blue (13-9 overall) Sunday, August 17 at 11 a.m. in Hutchinson. Litchfield was the number 3 seed out of Region 6C. They were upset by Howard Lake (5-3) in the semifinals but rebounded to defeat St. Nicholas (5-1) and Dassel-Cokato (6-0) to advance.
They are one of four teams from the North Star League to advance to State. Howard Lake joins the Blue in the Class C Tournament. Hutchinson and Maple Lake will play in the Class B Tournament.
