Last year it was an even dozen for the Waterville Indians Amateur Baseball Team. After last weekend they increased that total to a baker’s dozen.
The Indians will be making their 13th Class C State Tournament appearance after winning two straight games in the Region 5C Tournament played Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3 in Cannon Falls.
Waterville defeated Veseli, 7-5, Saturday afternoon and downed Waseca, 9-4, Sunday afternoon to advance to the Region 5C Championship.
The Championship game will be played at 8 p.m. Friday, August 8 at William J. Grose Field “The Willy” in Waterville against the Pine Island Pioneers. The winner will be the No. 1 seed in the Class C State Tournament and the loser will be the No. 2 seed from this Region.
Veseli, Waseca, Blue Earth, and Cannon Falls will be playing Saturday, August 9 in Waterville for the 3rd State Tournament bid.
Veseli and Cannon Falls will play at 1 p.m. and Waseca and Blue Earth will play at 4 p.m. The 3rd place game is set for 7 p.m. between and the winner of that game will join Waterville and Pine Island at State.
Pine Island defeated Blue Earth, 5-3 in 12 innings and Cannon Falls, 7-3 to advance to the Region 5C Championship.
