Robert Lee Getting, 87

Getting, Robert Lee, age 87 of Lonsdale, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2022 at his home. Bob was born on a farm north of Windom and graduated High School in 1954. Shortly, thereafter, he enlisted in the National Guard and served for 4 years. His family moved to Northfield in 1960. He worked in the building/ contracting trade and met his future wife, Mary Kay. He then landed a job at Continental Machines in 1963. Bob and Mary Kay were married on April 25^th, 1964, and relocated to their home in Lonsdale two years later where they raised David and Jim. In 1970, Bob joined the Lonsdale Fire Department and served for 26 years, retiring in 1996. During that time, he also continued to work at Continental Machines until his retirement in 1998, which concluded 35 years of service.

He was an avid country music fan and enjoyed concerts and dinners out with friends. Bob’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, helping on the Peterka Family Farm, taking road trips and spending time with family. He particularly enjoyed attending the sporting events for his grandchildren. 

Preceded in death by his son, David; brothers, Raymond and Lee; and sister-in-law, Ann. Survived by his wife, Mary Kay; son, James (Sara); grandchildren, Mitchell and Katey; brother, Richard; sisters-in-law, Norma and Ruby; daughter-in-law, Wendi Getting; also by other loving family and friends. Memorial service will be held 11 AM Friday, April 29, 2022 at White Funeral Home (Hwy 19) Lonsdale, MN. Memorial visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment of Ash at Calvary Cemetery, Lonsdale MN.
