NP dance team saved its best for section meet

Heading into the section dance competition, New Prague High School’s dance team members knew everything had to fall just right for them to have an outside chance at making the state meet.

While the Trojans didn’t make the state field, they left the floor at Shakopee High School emotionally and physically exhausted knowing they offered their best. In a 12-team field, New Prague finished seventh in jazz and eighth in kick.

“They really gave it absolutely everything they had,” said NP coach Tiffany Sandhurst. Before the performances, she told her team’s dancers they needed to give their routines everything they had and that they were loved. “They danced their absolute best. Some of them left in tears knowing this was the last time they’d ever be together as a team. This is a really close group.”

Wayzata, Edina and Hopkins qualified for the state meet, finishing first through third in both the kick and jazz events.
