Clara Mae Tiede, 98

Clara Mae Tiede, age 98 of Lonsdale passed away peacefully at her home at the Villages of Lonsdale on Saturday, October 8, 2022. A celebration of Clara’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the Villages of Lonsdale from 6:00PM - 8:00PM.

Clara was born in New Prague on July 6, 1924 to Charles and Ursula Tiede. She lived with all of her sisters for periods of time throughout her earlier years, settling in with Mabel and Willard on their farm in rural New Prague. She moved into Liberty Park in New Prague in 1992 where she enjoyed having her own place to call home and had many friends. In 2011, she moved to the Villages of Lonsdale, where she made many new friends.

Clara loved life and everyone she met. She touched many peoples lives in such a positive way. She had the cutest, most innocent, genuine smile.

Even though she had a difficult childhood, she was surrounded by wonderful people, family and friends who made many wonderful memories with her later in life.

She had many friends at the Villages and she loved the staff who cared for her there. It was very clear that she won them over instantly and they all loved her too. Her hobbies and things she enjoyed include: getting visitors, seeing her family, her love of cats, talking with people and social events, decorating her home, sewing, polka music and watching old TV shows.

She was known for her favorite foods: Kentucky Fried Chicken, mac and cheese, Cheetos, popcorn and snack mix. Candy, especially Butterscotch candies, were always there to share with visitors.

Clara was preceded in death by her dad, Charles and his wife Martha, her mother, Ursula and her 8 siblings and in-laws: Viola (Stanley) Meger, Harold (Helen) Tiede, Jeannie (Art) Rudek, Mabel (Willard) Gerdes, Elsie (Ray) Krautkramer, Grace (Vic) Krumrey, Ralph Tiede and Ester Tiede.

Clara is survived by her many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, close friends, extended family and her Villages of Lonsdale family. Her great niece, Sandie Zweber, along with her 2 children, Alissa and Ashley, were a big part of Clara’s life and took care of her since she was living independently. She was especially close to the Gerdes family who helped her throughout her life.

She was a small person with a huge heart. Her smile and loving nature will be missed by many.
