Morristown Dam Days set for this weekend

The 36th Annual Morristown Dam Days started Wednesday, June 2 with the crowning of Miss Morristown.

Grand Marshals of this year’s Dam Days Parade are Morristown Morries baseball teams.

Friday, June 4 The rest of the festivities begin on Friday with Family Fun Shows of Mankato at 5 p.m. and the numerous food stands and beer garden also at 5 p.m.

There will be a Euchre Tournament at 1:30 p.m. in the Morristown Community Center. Don’t forget the Twilight Parade at 7 p.m.

At 8:30 p.m. music by Old Country Boys will be under the Big Top Tent.

Saturday, June 5 Saturday has lots of events. From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., there’s the fishing contest at City Park. Due to the high water, kids should wear lifejackets. A co-ed volleyball tournament starts at 9 a.m. next to the Fire Hall. The Farmer’s Market across from the Mill is held from 9 a.m. to noon. The Medallion Hunt starts at 9 a.m. Clues will be posted on the stage downtown.

For those who like cars, the Top 25 Car Show is being featured at the Babe Nordmeier Baseball Field. This starts at 10 a.m. and continues until 2 p.m.

Also from noon to 5 p.m. there will be a water powered gristmill demonstration at the Morristown Mill.

Also starting at noon is the RC Demolition Derby at the baseball field, which features miniature remote control cars. Pit gates open at 10 a.m.

Don’t miss the Kiddie Tractor Pull in front of the stage at 3 p.m. Sign-up is 2:30 p.m.

For you dancers, there’s a street dance from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. under the big top tent featuring The Blue Ringers.

There will be a fireworks show starting at 10 p.m.

Sunday, June 6 You can start your morning out by attending the American Legion All You Can Eat Breakfast Brunch beginning at 8 a.m. until noon.

At 10 a.m. the Ecumenical Worship Service at the Peace Garden - Methodist Church.

The Kiddie Parade is at noon. It goes downtown to the big top tent. Kids games will follow at 1 p.m.

From 1 to 2 p.m. there will be Tricia and the Loonies performance under the Big Tent.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. there will be a water powered gristmill demonstration at the Morristown Mill.

At 1 p.m. the 9th annual Amateur BBQ Cook-Off Contest will be held in the park by the river. Contact Troy Dahle at 838-7241 for more information.

The Morristown Morries baseball team will host Lake Crystal at 2 p.m.

There is Bar Bingo at the Morristown American Legion at 2 p.m.

There will be a Historical Society Dedication at the Morristown Mill at 2:30 p.m.

The kids’ bike drawing will be held at 2:30 p.m.

The Duck Drop Race will be held at 4 p.m. at the dam.

Hypnotist Freddie Justice will perform on the main stage at 4:30 p.m.

The Raffle Ticket Drawing will be at 6 p.m down town at Main Stage.
