Fireworks and July 4th fun this weekend

Area residents looking for fun on the Fourth of July will have several choices.

New Prague In New Prague at 10:10 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, fireworks will light up the night sky. The show takes place east of New Prague Middle School along Columbus Avenue N. The evening starts with Linda Fahrenkamp singing the National Anthem. There will also be a live broadcast by KCHK and concessions from Kona Ice and Dawgs on the Run. The fireworks are being sponsored by the New Prague Park Ballroom and Jeff Belzer’s, plus support from area businesses, individuals and the community. Elysian Elysian will have its July 4 Celebration that begins on Thursday, July 1, and runs through Sunday, July 4. Over the four days there will be two pageants, children’s games, silent auctions, a medallion hunt, the Lake Francis Boat Parade, and the Firemen’s Dance. Fireworks will be on Friday, July 2, beginning at 10 p.m. and will be shot from Lake Tustin Park.

North Morristown North Morristown features a day of events on Sunday, July 4, with its annual July 4 Celebration. Advertised as the oldest Fourth of July celebration in the state, there will be music, games, children’s rides, food, a parade at 10 a.m., a patriotic program and fireworks at 10 p.m.

Prior Lake The Prior Lake Association will be having its annual Fourth of July Boat Parade and fireworks display on Sunday, July 4. The boat parade will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Upper Prior Lake. The fireworks will blast off from Watzl’s Beach at Lakefront Park at 10:15 p.m.

Shakopee The City of Shakopee will be hosting its annual “Happy Birthday America” parade on Friday, July 2, at 10:30 a.m. Residents are encouraged to bring decorated bikes, trikes and wagons for the parade that starts at Lion’s Park.

Canterbury Park On Saturday, July 3, Canterbury Park will be having its Fireworks Spectacular Show starting around 10:15 p.m. There will also be events during the day leading up to the fireworks. There will be a capacity limit so people should get tickets early.

Mystic Lake The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community will have a fireworks display at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel after its John Fogerty concert, which begins at 8 p.m. on July 4.
