WEM continues to excell in conference play

The Gopher Conference volleyball title will still need to go through WEM after the Lady Bucs started their 2021 season with three straight wins.

The Class A No. 8 rated team defeated state-rated Hayfield (15-25, 25-16, 18-25, 26-24, and 15-9) Tuesday, Sept. 14 and rolled past Randolph (25-21, 25- 15, 25-13) Thursday, Sept. 16.

The Buccaneers have been the dominate team in the conference for most of the last six years and their early season win streak in conference play bodes well for the rest of the season.

“It was nice to get two conference wins,” WEM head coach Crystal Lamont said. “The girls battled hard against Hayfield. We started a little slow against Randolph but I thought we played well the rest of the match.”
