The rural church closed in 1968, but Memorial Day Masses continue to be held at St. Jarlath's Catholic Church once every three years. And, this is St. Jarlath’s year to open its doors and host. It also happens to be church’s 150th anniversary.

Father Gregory Leif of Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca will preside at St. Jarlath’s 10 a.m. Memorial Day Mass on Monday, May 28. Everyone is welcome. A potluck meal will be held outdoors following the Mass. The church is located southwest of Toners Lake near the intersection of 415th Ave. and Reeds Lake Road in rural Janesville, Iosco Township.

Informational pamphlets regarding St. Jarlath's Church and Cemetery will be available thanks to the research conducted by Mary Lou Ihrke of Madison Lake, who is piecing together histories of the families connected to the rural church--including her own.
