Man charged in January Elysian burglaries

George Alan Vanzee, age 51 formerly of the Owatonna area, has been charged with seven felony level and one misdemeanor level offenses for his involvement in the January 7, 2018 break-ins at Tucker's Tavern, Fischer's Corner Bar, and the Thirsty Beaver Bar, all located in Elysian.

George Alan Vanzee, previously of the Owatonna area, is currently being held in the Ottertail County Jail in Fergus Falls. Vanvee, age 51, has been identified as the individual involved in the January 7th, 2018 break-ins at Tucker's Tavern, Fischer's Corner Bar, and the Thirsty Beaver, all in Elysian. On September 5th, a Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office investigator interviewed Vanzee, who admitted to breaking into the three Elysian bars, looking for money. Le Sueur County Sheriff Brett Mason said a formal complaint and warrant has been issued by Le Sueur County District Court charging Vanzee with seven felony level and a misdemeanor level offenses. Vanzee caused property damage at the bars including damage to an ATM machine, windows, doors, cash registers, and a safe.
