Janice Kulla, 86

Janice Kulla, age 86, of Waseca, died on Saturday, February 17, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, at Church of the Sacred Heart with Fr. Gregory Leif as Celebrant. Visitation will be for two hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in St. Casimir Cemetery at Wells.

Janice Ann Kulla was born to Edward and Catherine (Hollinger) Pittman in Waterville Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota on June 5, 1932. She attended Horseshoe Lake School for 6 years before attending Waterville Public School graduating with the class of 1950. Janice continued her education at Mankato Commercial College. She worked in Waseca as a bookkeeper, then for a while at Mutual Service Insurance Company and for 11 years she worked for Frank Papke as his Deputy Clerk of Court. On June 28, 1966, Janice was united in marriage to Raymond Kulla at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville. Together they lived on the Kulla Family Farm near Wells. They shared 18 years of marriage when Ray passed away in 1984. Following Ray passing, Janice worked at Delmonte and later Banquet Foods. In 1992, Rick and Janice moved near New Richland. At that time Janice was the Executive Director of the Housing Authority in New Richland for 5 years. She then moved to Waseca into Maple Terrace where she worked part time in the office for 11 years and then retired. Janice was a great cook and was always ready to play cards. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived her two children: Richard “Rick” Kulla of New Richland and Brenda (Kenneth) Harpestad of Wells; six grandchildren: Andrea, Matt, Mitch, Kortney, Konner, and Kendel Harpestad; sister-in-law, Donna (Pittman) Miller of Waterville; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, James Pittman.
