Grizzlies down Burnsville for second win

The WEM/JWP wrestling team won its second match of the year, defeating Burnsville Thursday, Jan. 24 at Montgomery.

The Grizzlies competed in the quadrangular with Burnsville, Tri City United, and Grand Meadow/LeRoy- Ostrander/Southland (GMLOS).

WEM/JWP opened with a 65-12 loss to GMLOS. They followed that loss with a 48-25 win over Burnsville. Tri City United downed the Grizzlies 67-9 in the final match.

The Grizzlies recorded eight wins in the victory over Burnsville.

Gavin Krause (106) started the match off with a pin of Ripplinger Xavier in 3:46.

After two straight Burnsville wins, Ethan Rider picked up a fall in 4:03 over Ruben Ramirez.

The Grizzlies picked up three straight wins in the middle of the match. Kurtis Crosby (145) and Dalton Klampe (152) each won by forfeit. Jaxson James pinned Gavin Osterhaus in 36 seconds, giving the locals a 30-19 lead.

WEM/JWP won three more matches, including a forfeit to Donald Carlson (195) and two pins. Ted Carlson (182) pinned Michael Gogue in 5:20 and Brant Melchert pinned Devon Spencer in 55 seconds.

In the loss to GMLOS, the Grizzlies picked up only two wins. Donald Carlson (195) and Melchert (220) each won by forfeit.
