Bucs improve to 12-1 overall with 9th straight victory

For much of the last five weeks, the WEM boys basketball team has been leading all Class A teams in point differential.

With a pair of 30+ point wins last week they continue to lead the state by outscoring their opponents by more than 33 points per game.

The Bucs defeated Blooming Prairie, 83-58 Tuesday, Jan. 15 and United South Central, 84-44, Friday, Jan. 11 to increase their winning streak to nine straight.

The Bucs shot a blistering 55 percent from the field (17-of-31) in building a 44- 15 halftime lead against the Blossoms. They also shot 52 percent in the second half.

Blooming Prairie outscored WEM 43-39 in the second half on the strength of 18-of-35 shooting.

Four Buccaneers scored in double figures, led by junior Grant McBroom with 22 points, his third straight game with 20+ points.

Senior Bladyn Bartelt scored 19 points, senior Tanner Ranslow scored 18 points, and junior Cole Kokoschke added 12 points.

Ranslow had a career high nine steals. McBroom had 12 rebounds and Kokoschke had six. Both players had four assists.

McBroom helped the Bucs gain a first half advantage against the Rebels.

With the score tied at 19- all with eight minutes left in the opening half, McBroom scored.....
