Bicyclist dies after being hit by car

A 30-year-old Waseca man, who was bicycling to work in Waterville, was killed when he was struck by a vehicle, Tuesday morning, October 1.
Anthony Michael Hodge of Waseca was killed in the collision on Highway 13 at about 6:40 a.m.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol incident report, Hodge was struck by a north bound 2000 Oldsmobile Bravado driven by Cynthia Jo Newman, 23, of Waseca.
Newman was wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision and was not injured. Alcohol is not believed to be involved.
Hodge was not wearing a helmet.
The Waseca County Sheriff’s Office and North Memorial Ambulance responded to the scene.
The road was wet at the time of the incident.
Hodge was heading to work at Waterville Foods and Ice Inc. at the time of the collision. According to business owner, Bernie Akemann, Hodge had worked for the company since July and was a “hardworking young man.”
Akemann confirmed that Hodge was en route to work when he was struck by the vehicle.
