Walter Stier, 83

Walter (Walt) J. Stier Jr, of Belle Plaine passed away on June 30, 2019 at Emerald Crest in Shakopee, MN.

Visitation will be Tuesday July 9 from 4-8 at Kolden Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11am on Wednesday July 10 at St. John Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine, MN. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Diane Goulson of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Henderson, MN and Chaplain Arlen Solem of Emerald Crest of Shakopee, MN. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.

Walt was born on March 29, 1936 to Walter and Marie (Ebel) Stier in Belle Plaine Township. Walt was baptized on April 19, 1936 and confirmed in the Christian faith on April 2, 1950 by Pastor P.J Haupt. Walt met the love of his life Darlene Gorr and they were married on March 2, 1958 at Zion E.R. Church in Le Sueur, MN. Walt was a lifetime farmer and was dedicated to his dairy herd until he retired in 1998. He was a member of the D.H.I.A and served on the board for 6 years. Walt also hauled milk and drove school bus for many years. He served on the Redeemer Lutheran Church board for 6 years as Vice President and President. Walt was an avid listener to KCHK radio station especially on Sunday when they played old time polka music. He also enjoyed dancing to old time music, playing cards with family and friends, and talking to area farmers about farming.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Darlene, daughter Jane (Larry) Krentz and sons Jason (April) Stier and Jay Stier. Grandchildren Melissa Krentz, Daniel Krentz, Collin Stier Krentz, Kayla (Justin) Buszmann, Charli Jo Stier, Riley Stier, and Cody Stier. Two great-grandchildren Blakely and Cody Buszmann.
He is proceeded in death by son Jerry, his parents, sister Wanda and brother Willard.
