Trojan win streak snapped by St. Michael-Albertville
It took one of the top teams in the state to end the double digit winning streak of the New Prague girls basketball team.
St. Michael-Albertville, ranked 7th in Class AAAA, defeated the Trojans, rated 18th in Class AAAA, 66-63 Saturday, Feb. 8.
The loss snapped a 10 game Trojan winning streak. The last time they were defeated was Dec. 28.
“This was the type of game we needed going into our last couple of weeks of the season,” New Prague head coach Luke Swedberg said. “St. Michael is a really talented team and they made plays down the stretch. They are ranked in the top 10 for a reason.
Amanda Giesen led the Trojans in scoring with 25 points. She made 10-of-13 from the free throw line.
Emily Russo added 23 points, hitting 11-of-17 from the field.
