Trojan soccer hosts Waconia

Soccer team ends regular season with 5-3-3 record

The New Prague girls’ soccer team played three matches during the month of October and had mixed results in those matches.

They defeated Mayer Lutheran, 3-1, Oct. 2, tied Mound Westonka, 4-4, Oct. 5, and were defeated by Waconia, 5-1, Oct. 8.

In the Mayer Lutheran win, the Trojans fell behind 1-0 before a goal by Josie Parent tied the score heading into halftime. “In the second half we really took control of the game,” head coach Matthew Anderson said. “We were composed and played fast.”

Evie Wegner scored the game winning goal on an assist from Sadie Larson. Payton Morris added an insurance goal from Keelie Buesgens.

“I really like the play that we are getting from Rian Gibson and Aubrey Weckman at center back,” Anderson said. “It is an important position and they are doing well.”

Payton Morris scored her first of the night on a penalty kick against Mound Westonka. The two teams went into the break 1-1 tie.
