Trojan lacrosse closes season with 3 wins

The New Prague Trojan boys lacrosse team finished its season last week with three wins, defeating Southwest Christian, Mankato and Lakeville South in JV action.

The team ended its inaugural season with an 8-5-1 record, playing mostly against junior varsity teams. Activities Director Brad Skogerboe said he expects the team will play a varsity schedule next year.

Trojans 9, Stars 2 On Monday, May 20, the Trojan boys travelled to Chaska for their second match of the season against Southwest Christian. Freshman attackman Reagan Anderson led the Trojans in their 9-2 victory as he scored three goals while working a fine picking game on the crease. Other attackmen who joined in on the scoring were sophomore Carson Sayer with two goals, and senior Joe Deja and freshman Joe Fenner with one each. Midfielder Henry Newton also had two goals.

Trojans 5, Mankato 4 New Prague avenged an early-season loss to Mankato with a 5-4 win. The game was played in gusty winds and constant rain.

“The 5-4 victory made numb fingers and saturated cleats well worth it," Coach Dylan Dickey said. Junior midfielder Matthew Schmidt worked....
