Trojan girls soccer tops Mayo
The New Prague Trojans played one of their best matches of the season Thursday, Sept. 5, but came up short in a 1-0 loss to state power Orono. They rebounded with a 3-1 win over Section 1AA rival Rochester Mayo.
The Trojans (2-5, 0-1 Wright County Conference) were scheduled to face Holy Family Catholic on Tuesday, Sept. 10. They are at home on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. against Mound Westonka and travel to Rochester Century Saturday, Sept. 14, for a 1 p.m. game. They play at Chaska at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Glencoe-Silver Lake at 7 p.m .Tuesday, Sept. 17, and host Waconia Thursday, Sept. 19, also at 7 p.m.
Orono Spartans 1, Trojans 0 The Trojans played hard, bringing great energy to the game. Center backs Dani Anderson and Evie Wegner stepped up in the absence of Rian Gibson, who is out with a concussion. "It seemed like they were everywhere. It gives us confidence knowing that they are back there," Coach Matt Anderson said. Orono scored the game’s only goal with 10 minutes left in the first half. Taylor Stepka made six saves for the Trojans in the loss.
