NPHS names nominees for MSHSL awards

New Prague High School nominated four students for Minnesota State High School League awards during the current school year.

Triple "A" Award The Triple "A" Award, for Academics, Arts and Activities, is for seniors who have excelled in the classroom, the athletic field and in the fine arts.

New Prague’s nominees were Aimee Ilkka, daughter of Cathy and Greg Ilkka, and Noah Weichert son of Jennifer and Brennen Weichert. Aimee has challenged her self academically by taking CIS (College in the Schools) and career exploration classes. She has been active in choir and drama, earning a best of site award as a sophomore in choir, and having taken part in stage productions both on stage and behind the scenes. "I have a passion in the fine arts and love being involved in all ways I can," she wrote. Athletically, she has competed in both track and field and swimming during her high school years.

"My involvement in all of these activities has taught me three important things: Prioritizing, teamwork and leadership,” she said in her nominating essay.

Noah has been active choir, where he has taken on leadership roles and has been a member of the cross country and golf teams, earning all-conference in both sports. He is a two-time captain of the golf team and also participated in basketball.
