New principal eager to get started

Nicole Adams was hired last week as the New Prague High School Principal.

Adams spent the last two years as principal at Le Sueur-Henderson high school, and four years prior to that she was assistant principal at Owatonna High School.

Adams, originally from Massachusetts, also worked for two years at Chanhassen High School as Dean of Students as well. Prior to that she was a history teacher in Massachusetts.

She is excited to be coming to New Prague and to be working in the community in which she has lived for several years. She and her husband, Hank Morotzke, live in Elko New Market.

“Prior to moving to Minnesota, I was teaching and living in the same town. I always thought that it was an ideal situation, and I’m looking forward to it,” she said.

Her husband, a native of New Brighton, was living in Massachusetts when they met and married. A few years later a job change brought them to Minnesota and Adams decided to move into school administration.

“I loved teaching and miss it in a lot of ways, but I enjoy working in administration,” she said.

She looks forward to getting started in New Prague.

“New Prague has a reputation that precedes itself, a reputation for excellence and caring about kids,” she said. “It’s highly supported by the community and is considered one of the best districts in the state,” she said. “Living in the district, I saw the opportunities my neighbors’ children have had in this district. They support the whole child and families. Kids in our neighborhood are being supported academically, socially and emotionally,” she said, explaining that when the position opened up she jumped at the opportunity to apply.
