Julia J. Schoenbauer Krautkremer, 95

Julia J. Schoenbauer Krautkremer, age 95, of New Prague, died peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center.  Julie was born on December 12, 1922 in Mahnomen, MN to James J. and Mary (Stolka) Jirik.  She attended Mahnomen Country School and married Alfred S. Schoenbauer on November 21, 1944 in Mahnomen.  The couple lived in St. Paul for the first years of their marriage and moved to New Prague in 1963.  After Alfred’s death in 1974, Julia married Omer A. Krautkremer on April 14, 1978 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.  Julie baked for Schumacher’s New Prague Hotel and cooked in numerous locations but most notably for New Prague Schools.  She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Czech Dancers and Singers. She loved old time music and cards and was an avid traveler, both of the world and the United States, visiting the Czech Republic and Hawaii numerous times. Julie’s family and grandchildren held the most treasured area of her heart and time with them was precious.  She adopted all four of her children and embraced them with every part of her being.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred Schoenbauer on November 20, 1974; second husband, Omer Krautkremer on July 5, 2014; parents; grandson, Joseph Schoenbauer; siblings, Ben, Albert, and Alois Jirik, Josie Kochmann, Frannie Simon, Mary Ann Piechowski. Julie is survived by her children, Joanne M. (Robert) Krava of Battle Lake, MN, Steven M. (Connie) Schoenbauer of New Prague, Thomas P. Schoenbauer of New Prague, Mari R. (David) Beer of Faribault; Brother, Frank (Marie) Jirik of Idaho; sisters, Agnes (Del) Dobmeyer of Alexandria, Vicki McGuire of Batavia, IL; sisters-in-law, Donna Jirik of Hershey,PA, Ruth Piechowski of White Bear Lake; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; the extended Schoenbauer family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton and DeaconTom Jirik officiating.  Visitation will take place Friday from 5-8 PM and Saturday morning from 7:30 – 10:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral  Home.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery followed by lunch at the KC Hall. bruzekfuneralhome.com
