Ilo V. Hinze, 95

Ilo V. Hinze, age 95 of Prior Lake, formerly of New Prague and New Ulm, passed away on August 4, 2019.

Ilo was born in LeCenter, MN to Vernon and Esther Hinze. He joined the United States Navy in 1944. Ilo married Roberta Hoffer and moved to New Prague to work as a printer for Robin Hood Flour. Ilo and family then moved to New Ulm where he began his new position as the print shop manager for International Multifoods. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion serving as post commander in both New Prague and New Ulm. Ilo was also a member of the Comrades of Valor and for many years, he was in charge of the steak fry’s, fish fry’s and the legion scholarship fund, as well as the legion baseball fund. He was a member in the American Legion for over 65 years and was awarded a plaque for that service. Ilo had a passion for walleye fishing and his morel mushroom hunting in the spring as well as family outings. He spent 55 years in New Ulm.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Roberta; sisters, Delores, Audrey and Marvel. Ilo is survived and missed dearly by his daughter, Marlene (Steven) Kopetzki; grandsons, Jeffrey (Marie) and David (Danielle), and great-grandsons, Andrew, Nathan, Benjamin and Alex.

Please join the family and friends as we gather to honor Ilo’s life and cherish his memory on Saturday, September 7, 2019 with a visitation at 11:00 a.m., memorial service at noon and full military honors being provided by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home (South Chapel) 600 South Broadway, New Ulm, MN 56073.
