Girls take 2nd at WCC East meet

Three members of the New Prague High School girls cross country team earned all-conference honors and the team placed second of six teams at the Wright County Conference East Championships Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Gale Woods Farm Park in Minnetrista.

Waconia had five runners finishing in the top 10 and finished with 32 points. New Prague had three in the top nine and finished with 62 points. Orono was third with 79, followed by Delano (104), Hutchinson (107) and Holy Family Catholic (156).

Waconia’s Kaleesa Houston won the event in 18 minutes, 45 seconds. The Trojans all-conference trio included Sydney Siegle (third, 20:14), Nora Rosemeier (fifth, 20:25) and Iris McCarthy (ninth, 20:36).

Kate Chromy was 21st in 21:34 and Abbey Carlson 24th in 21:53 to complete the Trojan scoring. Faith Boyer finished 26th in 22:03 and Morgan Brandt was 30th in 22:32.
