Geiger, Hunt advance to 2nd round at Section 2AAA golf

The New Prague Trojans had a strong showing at Day 1 of the Section 2AAA boys golf meet, but not quite strong enough to advance as a team.
The Trojans had a four-person score of 311, finishing in fifth place. Only the top four teams advance to Day 2 of sections, and the Trojans missed out by six strokes.
Still, New Prague had two golfers move on to the second day of competition and another who just missed advancing by one stroke. Freshman Henry Geiger shot a career-best 73 and Joey Hunt shot a 78. Logan Hallet also had an outstanding round of 79 and missed advancing by one stroke. Also shooting for the Trojans were Murphy Warner (81), Noah Weichert (82) and Patrick Kuehl (84).
Waconia was the first round leader with a 291, with Minnetonka (292), Chaska (294) and Eden Prairie (305) also advancing. After the Trojans 311, other teams were Mankato West (312), Orono (314), Chanhassen (315), Prior Lake (317), Hutchinson (318), Mankato East (318) and Shakopee (347).
