Francis T. Mikolasek, 85

Francis T. Mikolasek, age 85, of New Prague, died peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.  Francis was born on November 10, 1934 to Frank J. and Eleanor A. (Simota) Mikolasek.  He attended district country school and St. Wenceslaus Catholic School.   He entered the National Guard in 1957 and was discharged in 1963.  He farmed all his life and in his later years, did lawn maintenance for Cedar Brook Golf Course.  Francis was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and the New Prague Sportsman’s Club.  He was dedicated to his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.  Fishing and deer hunting filled out his leisure activities and his love of the outdoors.

 Francis is survived by his sisters, Jeanette Horejsi of Hutchinson, Judy Siemon of New Prague, Pat (Dave) Mager of Le Center; nieces, Theresa (Rick) Reiner of Hutchinson, Cathy (Jeff) Dols of New Prague, Joan (Michael) Anderson of Eden Prairie, Laura Mager (fiancé, Kurt Peterson) of Minneapolis, Carolyn Mager (fiancé, Ryan Chadderdon) of Le Center; many great-nieces & great-nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ann Voracek; brother in infancy; niece, Marge Bezek.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 12:00 Noon at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Eugene Theisen officiating.  Visitation will take place Wednesday morning from 9:30 – 11:30 at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the New Prague Area Veterans Honor Guard.  Lunch will follow at the KC Hall. bruzekfuneralhome.com
