City to have two new police officers

The New Prague City Council welcomed a new police officer at its Monday, June 3, meeting. Mayor Chuck Nickolay administered the oath of office to Andrew Hallberg, who had successfully completed his field training.

Police Chief Jim Gareis provided a brief history of Hallberg, stating that he had been raised in Shakopee since the age of 7. Hallberg attended school there and graduated from Shakopee High School. He then attended Metropolitan State University where he received his bachelor of science in law enforcement. Hallberg’s experiences include serving in the Waterville Police Department first as a part-time officer (March 2016), a school resource officer in 2017 and a full-time officer beginning in March 2018.
