Two New Prague High School varsity head coaches have submitted resignations in the past week.
Boys hockey coach Chris Lonke resigned after 10 years. He cited family reasons for stepping down. Lonke had a 153-108-15 record over 10 years and took the Trojans to two state tournaments, finishing third in 2014 and fifth in 2015. He previously was head coach at Simley, where he also made one state tournament appearance.
Dance team coach Frankie McNamara resigned after one season with the Trojan squad.
Activities Director Brad Skogerboe said he has started the search for replacements for the two positions.
Skogerboe said he also received a letter of resignation from Ron Gunderson, head girls basketball coach. Gunderson had taken a one-year leave of absence from the job he had held since the 1976-77 school year. He had retired as a teacher several years ago. By law, the district was required to post the job opening, but Skogerboe said he expects that Luke Swedberg, who was interim coach during the past season, will return for his second year.
