Bonita Marie Tupy, 54

Bonita Marie Tupy, age 54, of New Prague, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday, March 1, 2019 at St. Gertrude’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shakopee.  Bonnie was born on September 30, 1964 in Shakopee to Lloyd A. and Carol L. (Pawelk) White.  Her parents were killed in a car accident when Bonnie was almost 4 and she was raised by her grandparents, Ed & Lillian White.   She graduated from New Prague High School in1983 and married Arnie Dale Tupy on August 11, 1984 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine and the couple made their home in New Prague, where they raised their four children.  Bonnie worked as a school bus driver, a job which she loved, until a stroke rendered her permanently disabled.  No stranger to tragedy in her life, Bonnie lost her beloved grandfather, Ed, in 1972, son, Nicholas, in 1994, her beloved grandmother, Lillian, in 1995, and her husband in 2012.  She overcame adversity by her deep faith and her motto:  Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Bonnie was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.  She was an avid gardener and was known for her beautiful garden.  She was an avid reader, and taught her grandson, Patrick, who was the apple of her eye, how to read.  She was a great cook and baker.

 Bonnie is survived by her children, Miranda Tupy of Montgomery, Corinna Tupy of New Prague, Zachary Tupy of New Prague; grandson, Patrick; sister, Cheryl & Randy Warner of New Prague; parents-in-law, Arnie & Jeanette Tupy of New Prague; sister-in-law, Jayne & Paul Skluzacek; nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; son; parents; grandparents.

 Funeral services will be held Monday, March 4, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home with Pastor Ben Hilding officiating.  Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to service from 9-11 AM.  Burial will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine. bruzekfuneralhome.com
