Viola Wondra, 90

Viola Mae Wondra, 90, of Montgomery, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. 

 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at Schoenbauer Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with visitation one hour prior at the church. Father Victor Valencia will be officiating. Interment will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

 

Viola was born August 25, 1927, in New Prague to Rudolph and Emma (Prchal) David. She attended country school, Holy Redeemer School and Montgomery High School. 

 

Viola was united in marriage to Leonard Wondra on September 20, 1949, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. She worked at a gas company before being married, Holy Redeemer Catholic School as an Aid and managed the Meadow Ridge Apartments until her husband retired and took over. 

 

She enjoyed making kolacky, baking, and trying new recipes, gardening, flowers, traveling all 50 states, and sewing. She appreciated nature and her grandchildren.

 

Viola is survived by her husband, Leonard Wondra of Montgomery; children, Kathleen Chapman of Tualatin, OR, Terese Wondra of St. Louis, MO, David Wondra of Minneapolis, Joseph (Susan) Wondra of New Prague, and Thomas (Kellyanne) Wondra of North Prairie, WI.; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

 

Viola is preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, James Chapman; brothers, Walter and Gilbert David.
