Trojan Adapted Softball team headed to State

The New Prague Trojan Adapted softball team went on the road for their state play-in game and came home with an exciting 10-5 win over host Anoka-Hennepin. The game was played at the Andover YMCA gym.

The win puts New Prague in the State CI Adapted softball tournament, which will be held Friday and Saturday, June 1 and 2, at Coon Rapids High School. This is New Prague's fifth trip to state, but the first trip since 2011.

The Trojans first round opponent will be Chaska/Chanhassen/Prior Lake/Shakopee, a team they lost to twice during the regular season. The Southern Stars won the Southern Division championship, while the Trojans finished fifth. Game time is 4 p.m. Friday.

Win or lose, the Trojans will play again Saturday, June 2.

Trojans 10, Mustangs 5 New Prague bats didn't have their best game, but they were good enough to pull out a win over Anoka-Hennepin Thursday, May 24, in a state play-in game.

"What an exciting game," said Coach Shellie Kriha. "Our team had a great defensive game getting many great plays. Seth Dorner had a great game at pitcher, Evan Minar, Jake Schurman and Alexis Parks had some key outs in the infield and our outfielders, Blake Perry, Garrett Gagner, Breanna Sparks and Aaron Adamson, continue to do a spectacular job making great catches."

Kriha said the game was truly a team effort. "No one in particular stood out at the plate, but many players contributed to getting hits. This team has continued to get better each week. The last couple of weeks, we have played our best."
