Neil R. Bohnsack, 73

Neil R. Bohnsack, age 73, of New Prague, died suddenly on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Three Links Care Center in Northfield.  Neil was born on March 16, 1947 in New Prague to Reuben W. and Selma R. (Jahn) Bohnsack.  He graduated from New Prague High School and Dunwoody Vo-Tech Institute in electrical science.  He served four years in the US Air Force as an electrician and was stationed in Panama during the Vietnam War.  He married the love of his life, Susan J. Menter on March 2, 1980 at Frieden’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lanesburgh.  Farming made up Neil’s life and everything having to do with the  soil.  He loved gardening and the Bohnsack sweet corn stand at the edge of New Prague was legendary and probably what he was most proud of.  In his spare time, Neil was a multi-talented musician and could play anything that was put in front of him – organ, piano, guitar, concertina, & tuba.  He played tuba and keyboard for old time bands from the time he was 16 throughout his life.  He also enjoyed a good game of euchre.  Perhaps his most revered title was “Grandpa” for he was like no other!  He will be sadly missed by so many.

Neil is survived by his wife, Susan, of New Prague; children, Jonathan (Emily) Bohnsack of Ham Lake, Amanda (Derek) Anderson of New Prague, LuAnn (Steve) Chromy of New Prague, JoAnn (Chris) Speich of New Prague; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce (Susan) Bohnsack of Cokato.  He is preceded in death by son, Mathew Menden; his parents.

Private family services will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2020.  bruzekfuneralhome.com
