Minnesota Czech Country’s 100-year celebration is Saturday and Sunday

Part of the 100-year anniversary of Czechoslovakia Celebration on October 27 and 28 in Montgomery and New Prague includes special displays in the local libraries. To honor the creation of Czechoslovakia 100 years ago, the “Bohemian Triangle” of New Prague, Montgomery, Lonsdale and Veseli are putting together a celebration on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27 and 28.

Starting Saturday morning, Oct. 27, 12 area cemeteries will have Czech immigrant graves marked with Czech flags to honor Czech ancestors. Assistance will be available at the cemeteries in locating specific grave sites from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition, general information on cemetery locations will be available at the Arts & Heritage Center (206 First Street N.) in Montgomery.

In addition to the cemetery activities, the Arts & Heritage Center will host a Children’s Culture Camp featuring Czech language, cooking, and singing provided by the Miss Czech Slovak MN Pageant. Advanced registrations are requested by contacting Anne Jans (507-202-4598) or Ashley Zimanske (952-201- 4107). This event goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
