Heidelberg Community Day’s popularity grows
The popularity of a car show, craft booths, good food and weather with a good cause led to another successful Community Day at Heidelberg on Sunday.
Sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70s helped bring hundreds of people to Heidelberg event that featured a car show, music, games, inflatables, a craft fair and food. The festival is sponsored by the Heidelberg Athletic Association and all proceeds from Community Day go to the upkeep and maintenance of the park which is owned and operated by Heidelberg Athletic Inc. The city does not own the park, so the fundraiser helps to keep it going.
“The weather was beautiful!” Said Therese Hlavac. “This year’s event was our best turnout. Our sales of food were outstanding!”
One of the popular draws for the event was the Heidelberg Community Car Show. Last year, the event attracted 95 registered vehicles. This year, the number swelled to 135 cars, which ranged from classic cars from a wide span of years to Rat Rods.
