Ella Jahn, 90

Ella R. Jahn, age 90, of New Prague, died peacefully on Friday, February 15, 2019, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Ella was born on November 21, 1928, in Lanesburgh Township, Le Sueur County, MN to Frank J. and Rose (Panek) Dietz. She attended country district school and graduated from New Prague High School. She married Harold C. Jahn on September 7, 1945, at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a lifelong resident of the Lanesburgh area, where she and her husband raised their four children and she whole-heartedly entered into farm life. She moved off the farm in 1993 but continued to raise poultry and livestock on the family farm until January 15th of this year. A true entrepreneur in animal husbandry, she loved her farm animals. In her early years, she was a 4-H leader and was a very active member of Friedens Church throughout her life. Ella loved gardening and canning; she was a quilter and used the down from her geese to make feather pillows. She will be most remembered for her generous heart. She was never too busy to visit or lend an ear to someone in need. Ella’s family was her highest priority and she was always the first to offer to take care of anyone who needed extra help, whether it was children, grandchildren, or friends.
Ella is survived by her children, La Donna Oberle of Waterville, Lois (Kerry) Fogarty of Kilkenny, Paul (Jody) Jahn of New Prague, Susan (Paul) Tikalsky of New Prague; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold, on November 27, 1989; special friend, Gerald Stangler; great-grandchildren, Colby Crawmer & Allen Oberle; brothers, Emil, Frank, Alvin, Edward, & Harry Dietz; sister, Adeline Jahn.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lanesburgh, with Pastor Henry Koch officiating. Visitation will take place at church 4 hours prior to service from 10 AM – 2 PM. Lunch will follow the service in the church hall. Burial will occur at a later date. bruzekfuneralhome.com
