The New Prague adapted floor hockey team won two games last week, defeating Winona and St. Paul Humboldt.

The team was scheduled to host Stillwater Tuesday, Feb. 26, and Burnsville/Farmington/ Lakeville Wednesday, Feb. 27. New Prague plays at Minneapolis Edison Thursday, Feb. 28, and will play their regular season finale on Tuesday, March 5, at home against South Washington County.

New Prague, which has athletes from Tri-City United, Le Sueur-Henderson, Jordan and Belle Plaine, has a 4- 1 record going into this week’s games, with one week left in the regular season.

Sometime during the week of March 5, New Prague will play in a state qualifier game, most likely at home. Date and opponent have not yet been determined.

Trojans 10, Winhawks 2 New Prague hosted Winona Tuesday, Feb. 19, and claimed a 10-2 win.

New Prague scored seven goals in the first period and that allowed the team to substitute freely the rest of the way. Seth Dorner and Chase Smith each had three goals, with Dorner adding an assist. Dylan Rahn had a goal and three assists. Garret Gagner, Aaron Adamson and Hailey Korchner each scored goals and Evan Minar added an assist.

“Our kids did a nice job working on some things and using this game as a learning experience for things we will see in the upcoming games,” Coach Shellie Kriha said.

Trojans 12, Hawks 2 New Prague traveled to St. Paul and defeated Humboldt 12-2 Thursday, Feb. 21.

Garret Gagner had four goals and an assist, Evan Minar had two goals and two assists, Dylan Rahn had two goals and an assist and Seth Dorner had two goals. Chase Smith, Cory Geelen, and Blake Perry each had goals, with Smith, Perry, Ray Jeurgens and Lydia Hail each getting an assist.

“Humboldt is another team that struggles to put a competitive team on the floor and our kids did a nice job of getting ahead early so we could rotate all of our kids into a varsity game,” Kriha said.

“We were very happy to see us start out like we should and start strong. We were up 2-0 only 15 seconds into the game.

“With the weather causing our schedule to be so condensed this year we are looking forward to next week where we have three games in four days and we should finally see some good competition and really get an idea of how we rank among the other teams in the state.
