Teen drowns in Lake Elysian

A teenager drowned in Lake Elysian during the afteroon of June 29. 

According to the Waseca County Sheriff's report, the victim was a 17-year-old male who reportedly jumped in the lake and never resurfaced around 4 p.m. Elysian Fire Chief Jason James said the incident occurred just south of Kaupon's Point. 

Madison Lake, Janesville and Elysian Fire Departments along with State Patrol, Le Sueur County, and Blue Earth County assisted with the search and recovery. The body was found in about seven feet of water around 5 p.m. using sonar technology. 

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and has not been identified.
