Staff writer and columnist Lisa Ingebrand, who works for the Lake Region Life, Elysian Enterprise, and the Montgomery Messenger, was honored for her writing during the 2019 Minnesota Newspaper Association’s (MNA) Annual Convention on January 24 in Bloomington. Ingebrand earned third place honors for her work as a writer in the Arts and Entertainment category among weeklies with up to 1,500 in circulation. This was her tenth MNA Award in 15 years with the local newspapers.

Ingebrand’s story “Seven vintage dresses, one beautiful wedding,” a story about relatives using their own vintage wedding gowns to create a custom gown for a bride, was featured at the convention.

The judge referred to Ingebrand’s piece as “an interesting and heart-warming story.”

First place in the category was awarded to Vicki Beckendorf of Mountain Lake’s Observer/Advocate. Second place went to Suzanne Lindgren of Scandia’s Country Messenger.

The Lake Region Life, Elysian Enterprise and Montgomery Messenger, along with The New Prague Times, are owned by Suel Printing Company in New Prague. Lisa represents the fourth generation of her family in the newspaper business. She and her husband John live in New Prague.
