Titans shutout Tigers 15-0
The Tri-City United Titan Football Team opened its season by shutting out the Belle Plaine Tigers 15-0 in Montgomery.
The Titan defense had a spectacular performance and held the Tigers to one interception at the end, three turnovers on downs, and six punts in the game.
The Titan offense put themselves on the board in the first quarter on their second possession when Matthew Bartholomew handed off to Kyle Sladek for a touchdown. Sladek added a successful two-point conversion that put the score at 8-0.
The Titan's second score came in the final minutes of the game when Bartholomew, on a quarterback keeper, marched one yard for another touchdown.
Belle Plaine's offense just couldn't get anything going. They had two possessions in the first quarter with two punts; three possessions in the second quarter for three punts; three possessions in the third quarter and a couple of turnovers on downs; and a punt, turnover and interception in the fourth. Their one chance was in the fourth quarter where they converted three first-downs, however that drive was shutdown by TCU defense.
Next week, the Titans are in Waseca for Game 2.
