Titans advance to semi-finals
The Tri-City United Titan Football Team advanced in the Section 3AAA tournament after their 54-20 victory over the Worthington Trojans in Montgomery on Tuesday.
With their win, the Titans, a No. 3 seed with a 5-4 record, take to the road for Jackson County to face Jackson County Central in the semi-final round on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Huskies, which are No. 2 seed, enter the contest with an 8-1 record after beating Sibley East 42-8 on Tuesday.
In the game against the Trojans, the combination of quarterback Peyton Collins and wide receiver Tyler Sladek proved to be a winning one. Sladek finished with six touchdowns in the game. Five of those were in the air that equated to 230 yards. That doesn’t include his rushing yardage, which included a 30-yard reception when he was forced out of bounds.
The Titans had eight touchdowns in all in the game, with the other two coming from an 11-yard touchdown by Matthew Feddema in the second quarter and a six-yard touchdown by Brandon Balma in the final minutes of the game.
